Fatal Family Ties review

This is the third book in the Ancestry Detective series by S.C. Perkins that I was fortunate enough to start from the beginning of the series. Each book just seems to get better, and I love how the characters have developed. Lucy and her two besties always crack me up when they get together, and I think it’s great that Lucy and Ben are officially a couple. I enjoyed meeting Lucy’s parents in this book and think it’s awesome that she has such a good relationship with them as opposed to sometimes a main character having both parents but maybe not such a great rapport with one or the other.

My Goodreads review:

Fatal Family Ties (Ancestry Detective #3)Fatal Family Ties by S.C. Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series just keeps getting better! I love the camaraderie of Lucy and her besties, her great relationship with her own parents, the way she keeps in touch with Grandpa George via FaceTime, and last but definitely not least, her growing relationship with Ben Turner. I was drawn in and could hardly put the book down when the action fired up.

I had my susupicions about whodunit but not the twist. There was an interesting side story that appeared to be connected to the murder, so it was fun to watch that play out as well. The showdown was pretty epic, and Lucy’s friend Helen got to play a part in it. Camilla was very surprising at the end too! I liked the theme of various people getting second chances even regarding the historical end of it.

Lineage Most Lethal review

This is the second book in the Ancestry Detective series by S.C. Perkins, and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! Maybe it was the Grandpa angle in it and having Lucy’s grandpa play a big part. Or possibly it was that it was more about Lucy and her family and not so focused on the client family. The first book for some reason just didn’t catch my attention as far as the client’s genealogy went. I liked the client himself just as I liked Pippa in this book. I’m so glad I decided to give the second book a chance, it’s definitely a winner!

My Goodreads review:

Lineage Most Lethal (Ancestry Detective Mystery, #2)Lineage Most Lethal by S.C. Perkins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh I really enjoyed this second book, even more than the first one. I just loved Lucy’s grandpa and his stories about being in the war. I guess because it’s about spies and stuff like that, it kept my interest a lot more than the first book. I liked that it was more Lucy-family-centered with the client’s history overlapping and tying in, but not overpowering and being the main story.

The showdown was so exciting and nail biting. I loved how it wasn’t just one person who saved the day too. The ending was just what I’d hoped for, and I do love how everything was wrapped up in a neat package with all the explanations given. I’m very glad I decided to continue reading in the series! I just hope that Grandpa is back in the next books.
