Gone but Not for Garden review

This is the fourth book in the Goddess of Greene St. Mysteries by Kate Collins who wrote the Abby Knight Flower Shop that became a Hallmark movie series. And speaking of our pal, Abby, she got to guest star in this book and solve the mystery along with Athena and Case which was lotsa great book fun.

Gone But Not for Garden (A Goddess of Greene St. Mystery, #4)Gone But Not for Garden by Kate Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was so much fun to see both this author’s main characters actually working on case together as Abby Salvare came to get Athena and Case’s help clearing her cousin of murder. What a crazy case with lots of secrets coming to light.

I could so commiserate with Athena about going to fairs! I’m definitely not a fan and don’t like those crowds either lol, but she did what she had to for family and for the case at hand. Speaking of Case, I liked how close Athena and Case were now. They seemed to be in a nice, comfortable spot in their relationship but I could tell Athena wasn’t too wild about PDA. But she did get to see how cute Marco and Abby were together and probably kinda wished that for her and Case.

That was some showdown but Abby and Athena proved themselves totally capable. I hadn’t really settled on a whodunit, so I just let the girls and Case take the lead lol. Little Oscar the raccoon did get to play a role in the showdown, and now Athena was grateful that Nico had taught the little guy how to play ball. Abby and Jillian got a big, happy Greek sendoff when they left, but I’d love to see these two ladies work together again. Even Lila was on her A-game this time, so it was definitely a team effort to solve the case.

Big Trouble in Little Greektown review

This is the third book in the Goddess of Greene Street series by Kate Collins who was first known for her Flower Shop series that went on to be the inspiration for a series of Hallmark movies. I’m really enjoying this series featuring Athena and her big Greek family. She even managed to snag a non-Greek boyfriend and still has her mama’s approval. There was a cute side story in this book about Delphi trying to do the very same thing but being afraid to face Mama. Really loving all these characters! Oscar the raccoon sounds pretty adorable, but I know from a relative who owned one once that you really have to be careful, although Niko seemed to have him under control as an outdoor pet.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always love visiting with Athena and her big crazy Greek family (described that way by her and her sisters lol). Case was just about to get his private eye license and open a new office, and I was actually surprised that Lila who I never liked very much at all in the previous book, really came through for them when needed. Lila got a nice surprise toward the end too. She’s actually a good piece of comic relief when they go on an interrogating mission. Athena’s son Nicholas/Niko had a new friend who was part of a side mystery that developed. Niko was quite the sleuth just like his mom!

I hadn’t really figured out whodunit although there was definitely someone I wanted to be the perp, but lots of suspects fit the bill. The showdown was really exciting, and once again the town was rid of a culprit.

I’d only read the first in the Flower Shop series that this author wrote first and really enjoyed it, but I know that series was ended. I was happy to see a little nod to it in this book. I love when authors do that! You’ll have to read it yourself to see just where this little mention is!

A Big Fat Greek Murder review

This is the second book in the newer Goddess of Greene St. mystery series by Kate Collins who’s well-known for her Flower Shop mysteries that became the basis for a series of Hallmark TV mystery movies. I liked this book even better than the first, and I have a feeling I’ll probably end up saying that about each one. I can’t wait for the next book and loved how this one ended.

A Big Fat Greek Murder (A Goddess of Greene St. Mystery Book 2)A Big Fat Greek Murder by Kate Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book with its sometimes-funny scenes and great characters! Athena’s sister ended up in jail for a murder she didn’t commit, and it was pretty hilarious picturing her mom going to the jail with food then getting into it with the warden over said food.

I loved that Case was interested in Athena and thought they made a pretty good investigating team. He was amazing at how he could think on his feet and hide, just what a great investigator would do. There were quite a few suspects, and I got sucked into believing every one of them was guilty whenever they were discussed, but I apparently guessed whodunit before Athena did. The showdown was suspenseful and exciting, and everyone got to be a little bit of a hero. The ending of the book was really awesome (and a touch funny too!). I’m really excited to read the next book!
