This is the ninth book in another favorite cozy mystery series, Amish Candy Shop Mysteries by well-known cozy author, Amanda Flower. I’m hoping for a book 10 and can’t quite remember if I read that she’s currently working on it or what. I get tons of author newsletters so yeah, it’s a little hard to keep the info sorted sometimes, lol. Jethro the adorable spotted pig was at his mischievous best, actually he hit the ground running on the mischief factor as soon the book started. Fun, festive and full of surprises!

That little pig Jethro was once again the star of the show as he started off the book having gotten into something already, lol. He just cracks me up but by now, I’m pretty sure Bailey loves that little stinker as much as she loves her rabbit, Puff. He was definitely a little stinker at the end but it caused a perp to get caught so in a way, Jethro was a hero.

It was so cool that Bailey was finally realizing her dream of the candy factory coming true, but with a murder to solve it kinda took a back seat at times. That showdown and what followed was a real comedy of errors but the killer was caught and the solution to the robberies was found too. Can’t wait for the next book which I hope is gonna have a wedding in it with a certain pig as ring bearer! 😉

Blueberry Blunder review

This is the eighth book in the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries by Amanda Flower, and I’ve loved every single book from the start, but this has to be my fave book yet. Everything I’ve wished for in the series is coming true finally, so if you wanna know what’s going on, you’ll just need to read the book if you haven’t already. I’d sure love to see the next book sooner than a whole year away. Who knows, maybe we’ll be surprised!

I think this has to be my favorite book in the series! Not only is sweet little Charlotte marrying Deputy Luke, but some other things that I’ve waited for 8 books to happen finally did! And I’m so super happy about that. Jethro of course, was the star of the show as always. I love that little pig, and the incident at the petting zoo was pretty hilarious! He had no idea what he’d gotten himself into LOL!

Instead of a plateful of problems, Bailey had platters of them spinning at once not to mention her contractor getting killed and the rotten sheriff initially wanting to blame her. It was so good to see Aiden again–I think I might’ve missed his presence in the last couple books as much as Bailey did! I wondered if his PI job might be connected to the murder, so you’ll just have to find out the way I did by reading the book. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book! I hope it comes sooner than a year!

Peanut Butter Panic review

This is the seventh book in the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries by well-known cozy mystery author Amanda Flower. I really love anything I read by this author, and I’ve been with this series from the very beginning. It’s fun to see how the characters grew and developed especially Bailey and Aiden as a couple. Her grandma Clara’s a really awesome Amish lady, and it’s kinda cute how she’s learned to accept that Bailey investigates if there’s a murder. She worries, sure, but I think she secretly enjoys that Bailey’s so good at both her candy job and investigating. And of course whatever Margot decides to add to Bailey’s plate of the day!

The Amish church spread intrigued me, so I searched on Google and found tons of different recipes along with the picture above which is credited to Mama Likes to Cook website.

Poor Bailey was already under bunches of pressure from overseeing the rest of the Thanksgiving meal event for Margot. She sure didn’t need a dead body making an appearance at dinner. But knowing Bailey even though she had no real connection to the murder victim, she wasn’t about to let someone get away with it.

I just love how Charlotte’s character’s getting so much more developed now that she’s engaged to Luke Little the deputy and decided to leave the Amish church. She was a pretty good sleuthing partner for Bailey now. Even before, she was just too curious and Bailey normally gave in and let her help. At least now Bailey didn’t have to worry about making anyone mad about what Charlotte was up to, well there was always Luke to answer to because he worried about Charlotte.

I really admire Bailey and Aiden as a couple for working out the outside issues in their relationship. They really came a long way and seem so strong now that not even a two-hour drive for his new BCI job was gonna ruin this awesome relationship. I love what Aiden said to her before he left!

And that little Jethro was at his best mischief and cuteness-wise. I thought it was about time Bailey admitted the little pig was really growing on her since Juliet always had her pigsitting. The little dude’s definitely a star in his own little world!

Oh that showdown was so awesome and satisfying! Couldn’t have wished for anything more or better justice! It’ll be interesting to see how Bailey’s dream for a candy factory for Swissmen Sweets works out now that she’s got the first part somewhat taken care of. Don’t miss this seventh installment in the Amish Candy Shop series that releases this coming Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

Lethal Licorice–review

“When the pig went missing, I knew there would be trouble,” Bailey King, Lethal Licorice by Amanda Flower. How can anyone resist a book that has that for an opening line? Especially if that person has read the first in this series, Assaulted Caramel, and already knows about the silly little spotted pig known as Jethro! (If you don’t, you should really read that first book but this one works fine as a stand alone.)

Oh my goodness, this was a great second book in what I had already decided is one of my favorite series back when I read the first book. How could you go wrong with a book that has an opening line of “When the pig went missing, I knew there would be trouble.” And trouble there was! From murder to possible sabotage/framing to rumspringa, this story has a lot of issues to resolve.

In Harvest, Ohio the Amish Confectionary Contest was a huge thing. Since Bailey has moved there and given up her NY chocolatier career to help her Amish grandma in their shop Swissmen Sweets, she naturally assumed she’d be in the contest as well since even though she herself was not Amish, the shop was and she was using Amish methods, meaning no modern shortcuts.

Of course a local woman Josephine, who wasn’t well liked to begin with, found fault with this and complained every chance she got even though the judges were in agreement, one being kind of grudgingly in agreement. Most people thought Josephine got what she deserved when she was found by her niece Charlotte, who was going through her rumspringa time. Josephine didn’t have to worry about whether Bailey should be in the contest anymore. This put both Charlotte and Bailey first on the suspect list even though good-hearted deputy Aiden Brody knew in his heart neither had done it. Bailey was determined to find out what really happened.

There were definitely a lot of good suspects in this and I have to say I sure didn’t see the ending coming. I had no idea who did it and was very surprised by the person as well as the reason.

Going back to the first line in the book, yes the little pig Jethro who belonged to Juliet Brody, deputy sheriff Aiden Brody’s mother, went missing and the whole town went looking for him. I remember the little pig from the first book being such a stinker so this story line was pretty entertaining since I knew that nothing bad could possibly happen to little Jethro. He was found, the perp was caught and everything with Charlotte worked out as well. I really liked the character of Charlotte and I hope she might be in the next book or maybe drop by in the future.

I highly recommend this well-written and entertaining book that I read in one day. Can’t wait till the next book comes out!
