Essence of Foul Play review

This is the first book in the brand new Aroma Wellness Mysteries by Daryl Wood Gerber and readers like me are gonna be thrilled to see a couple characters from her Fairy Garden Mysteries featured prominently in this series. Some others pop in and out which was kinda fun since I felt right at home with the setting after having read all five of the Fairy Garden series. This should be a really fun series too!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I felt right at home reading this series since it has the same setting and some same characters from the author’s Fairy Garden Mysteries. I absolutely loved that series and now this companion series is gonna be so much fun! Emma was a great main character and I loved her grandma, someone readers will recognize as Ms. Reade the librarian except in this series she’s Nana Lissa or just Nana, a really amazing lady. Emma’s spa employes/friends were awesome too and that Meryl was such a hoot!

The showdown was a good one, exciting and tense but Emma had things under control by the time the police arrived. I think the good detective’s finding he’s got another one on his hands a lot like Courtney Kelly as far as wanting to solve investigations. The ending of the book was just too sweet and special! I can’t wait for the next book now!

A Hint of Mischief review

This is the third book in the Fairy Garden Mysteries by well-known cozy author Daryl Wood Gerber, and I believe it might be my favorite so far. The characters were really well-developed to begin with, but by now (since there’s always a year between these books) I felt like I could just pick up and remember more about them. I love reading about someone’s wonder and delight whenever they first see a fairy in the series or haven’t been able to see one all that long, it’s just really cool! The very ending was super sweet and magical!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was fun to catch up with Courtney and her friends, and especially her sweet little fairy friend, Fiona. That little girl’s come a long way since the first book! I think she’s gonna make the queen fairy really proud someday soon. I just wish Courtney could get her dad to believe. Can you imagine what Det. Summers would say or do if Kip did believe? I don’t think he’d let him live it down LOL!

The mystery had a lot of twists, turns and great red herrings, so I was never really sure whodunit until Courtney came up with it. That was one tense showdown and while Courtney used what she had in her defense, I think I agree with her dad and would like to see her take more self-defense classes. I enjoyed the little side story of the fairy door mystery.

I was so happy to see Courtney and Brady getting closer and what happened at the very end was super sweet! He’s such a keeper! Can’t wait for the next installment!

A Sprinkling of Murder review

This is the very first book in a brand new series coming June 30 by Daryl Wood Gerber. She writes several other series, and I always love reading her work. This book was so much fun with a main character who had a fairy who helped her sleuth. There are a lot of amazing-looking recipes at the end of the book…and a preview of the next book!

I enjoyed the first book in this brand new series so much! I just love Courtney’s playful and sometimes mischievous fairy, Fiona. She really was trying to be good in order to earn her complete adult wings. It was so cool how some people could see her, and others either just didn’t want to believe or were totally ignorant. The whole magical feeling of the story was so much fun. I enjoy the author’s other series and feel that she did a great job with a fantasy mystery and her fairy garden-making research.

I had sort of guessed the killer but their reason was very hidden. I always enjoy a book more when the killer gets caught in a way that doesn’t cause any nail biting or harm to the main character. And it’s great when there’s a wrap-up afterward. It’s going to be hard to wait till next year for the next book, but there was a little preview after all the recipes. And the recipes…they all sound amazing especially those brownies with the salted caramel sauce!
